ASSURE at Embry-Riddle

ASSURE or the Alliance of System Safety for UAS through Research Excellence is a multi-university center designated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as its Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is a founding member of a multi-university coalition comprised of 21 research universities, the ASSURE Coalition (Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence). ASSURE was designated as the FAA’s Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems in May 2015.

As an FAA Center of Excellence, over the next 10 years ASSURE will provide the FAA with the research it needs to quickly, safely and efficiently integrate unmanned aircraft systems into the National Airspace System with minimal changes to the current system. Embry-Riddle will be the technical lead in UAS airspace integration research areas (including air traffic management interoperability, UAS traffic management, and UAS airport ground operations), co-lead in UAS pilot and crew training and co-lead in command and communication research. ERAU will also support research in areas such as detect-and-avoid, human factors, low-altitude operations, wake separation and noise reduction.

Embry-Riddle is one of the first schools in the nation to offer a degree in UAS. ERAU’s Prescott and Daytona Beach campuses offer a Bachelor of Science in Unmanned Aircraft Systems Science. The Daytona Beach Campus offers a Master of Science in Unmanned and Autonomous Systems Engineering. The university’s Worldwide campus offers a Master of Science in Unmanned Systems, a Master of Aeronautical Science with UAS Specialization and will soon offer a Bachelor of Science in Unmanned Systems Applications.
